When he left, I unplugged it all and redid it myself. Better yet, the tech left everything super messy, the tv box was literally hanging off my tv stand, and the wires were super jumbled and messy. I just got a $115 fee removed, for "professional installation" that took over three hours, to install the modem, and main tv box, and they forgot the wireless box, so they had to ship it, and also gave me a shipping charge. Yes, but I am trying to avoid having a tech come to my house. I tried to get cable with my own equipment, and it would NOT work, we found this out the hard way. Xfinity doesn't like you using your own equipment and they try to hinder it is the best guess I can give. So eventually adding cable for a third time and getting their modem, we were finally able to get tv in my Mom's room. Called and got an xfinity rep to confirm it, that I couldn't use a wireless tv box (no coax/ethernet) with my own equipment, needed theirs. But I had tried getting cable on three different times and the first two times, we couldn't get cable on the wireless box, which is how I found out my own stuff doesn't work. Equipment supporting 1gig should not be interpreted any link could be possibly established. Yeah, I will list my own equipment in a bit. The modem has plenty of room around it and isn't blocked by anythingĮdit 2: dropping xfinity/cable is not an option, sorry. I guess I just unsure what to do? Buying more equipment that is xfinity compatible of my own is out of the querstion.Īny good wifi extenders that actually work, and are compatible with Xfinity, other than the XFi pods?Įdit: my PC and if I bring my switch upstairs, wifi is bad I previously tried the previous gen XFi pods, and it was a waste of money and barely extended the signal. I was really debating on getting like a 100/150 foot ethernet cable and some adhesive and running it against the wall downstairs to the modem. If she wants cable, then I am going to get it for her.Īnyways, since my equipment isn't compatible with the wireless tv box in her room, I had to rent the xfinity modem again and now my internet downloads and speed is ATTROCIOUS upstairs. I tried, really tried every other day to teach her. Before anyone says to continue trying streaming, don't. I tried previously cutting cable and showing her netflix, hulu, disney+ but she doesn't understand the interfaces well, and wants live news as well. We have no coax or ethernet port in any room but the living room and she/nor I don't want a long cable going from her room to the modem. I added cable for my Mom, and it turns out for a wireless TV box for her room, my router/modem are not compatible for wireless tv and therefore it is literally impossible to get cable in her room. I had my own modem/router equipment, and it was wonderful, far signal reach, and I got fast download speeds than the previous Xfinity modem we had, which I got an okay signal upstairs in my room (apartment). ![]()
